My work in EPiC has interested me in research involving teaching styles and pedagogy. I am the Stage Coordinator for second-year undergraduate students and I have an active role in undergraduate recruitment.
I joined the school in 2014 as a Transition Officer supporting stage one students with the transition into university life. I am now a lecturer, teaching UG and PG students, I also chair the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee for the school.
In 2014 I received a Vice-Chancellor’s Education Excellence Award and in 2017 became a National Teaching Fellow. I was promoted to Professor of Educational Practice in Computer Science in 2019.
I currently support the School of Computing’s Outreach programme that brings in local schools and colleges. Before leaving EPiC in 2020, I taught a number of UG modules alongside other work on employability and demonstrating. Outside of the group my full time role is as a Civil Servant working on the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.
I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), co-group lead for EPiC and a co-Deputy Head of School. Previously I have been Director of Education (2020 – 2022) and Director of Postgraduate Studies (2018-2020).
