Dr John Colquhoun
Lecturer
John is a Lecturer in Computing. He is currently one of the UG Board of Examiners Chairs, Stage 2 Co-ordinator, Placement Co-ordinator/placement module lead, Chair of the Academic Misconduct Committee and teaches on four other modules across Stages 1, 2 and MSc Computer Science. John is also one of the teachers on the PARTNERS Summer School and chairs the Board of Assessors for its SAgE and FMS strands.
Dr John Mace
Lecturer
John is a lecturer and the Deputy UG Degree Programme Director for the School of Computing. He teaches security programming at UG level and has research interests in finding new and exciting cyber security teaching methods that increase both student engagement and experience. John is also a School Wellbeing Ambassador, Just Ask volunteer and Mental Health First Aider.
Dr Laura Heels
Lecturer
Laura teaches across the UG degree and occasionally guest lectures for MSc modules for web related topics. Laura is the the current Director of Culture and Inclusion for Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE). Laura’s research interests are in Computer Science education and critical pedagogy methods, in particular how to make Computer Science education more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Dr Marie Devlin
Group Lead
Marie primarily teaches project-based classes and software engineering. She’s also the Group Lead for EPiC, supervising PhD students on CS Education topics like generative AI. Her research focuses on enhancing student experience and engagement in CS, and increasing the wider impact and relevance of education on student outcomes and abilities.
Dr Steve Riddle
Senior Lecturer
Steve has taught a wide range of modules over many years, at BSc and MSc level, in programming, dependable systems, high integrity development, team project and individual dissertation projects. He worked for several years in the Centre for Software Reliability before moving focus to educational practice, with particular interest in teamwork and student employability.

George Wood
Postgraduate Researcher
George is a PhD student, researching misinformation and disinformation in online advertising. His research interests include privacy education, applied cryptography, and educational practice. He demonstrates on two undergraduate modules, CSC2031 and CSC3632, both related to security.
